After my father retired he discovered cooking.  He especially enjoyed grilling on his FaberWare electric grill.  He used to grill the most wonderful pork roasts using the rotisserie and this is the sauce he would use for basting.  I’ve used this BBQ sauce for just about everything, even as a condiment on a hotdog or burger.  It’s not as thick as many sauces you get at the grocery store, but its the best!

Mom dug out a sheet of paper taken from a legal pad more then twenty years ago. At some point it got wet and a few of the words were hard to read, but here is the recipe, transcribed from my father’s original copy.

1 1/2 cups catsup
1 tsp. garlic powder
1 med. onion, minced
1/3 cup A-1 Steak Sauce
1/4 cup vegetable oil
3/4 cup water
1 can (12 oz.) frozen lemonade concentrate
1 tsp. mustard powder
1 tsp. ground black pepper

1. Combine all ingredients in 3-quart sauce pan. Bring to boil over medium heat for 15 minutes, stirring often.

2. Cool. May be refrigerated in closed jar. Use for barbequing beef, chicken, pork and as a marinade.
