I love all things burger and this recipe is guaranteed to impress. If possible, don’t tell those you are serving the surprise!
1 lb. ground beef (round)
1/4 cup fine dry bread crumbs
1/2 tsp. dry mustard
1/4 tsp. each salt AND black pepper
2 lg. egg whites (how to)
2 oz. cream cheese
1 lg. green onion, chopped (including green top)
1 Tbs. chopped green olives
4 hamburger buns, split and toasted
1. Preheat broiler or grill. In a medium-sized bowl, mix the ground beef, bread crumbs, mustard, salt, pepper, and egg whites. Shape into 8 patties, about 1/4 inch thick.
2. In a small bowl, combine the cream cheese, green onion, and olives.
3. Spread the cheese filling onto the centers of half of the meat patties, spreading it to about 1/2 inch from the edges. Top with the remaining patties and seal well by pressing the meat around the edges with your fingers. Reshape the burgers into even circles.
4. Broil the patties 4 inches from the heat or grill over medium-hot coals for 5 or 6 minutes per side. Serve on toasted buns with your favorite toppings.
My final step on these delish burgers is to put Lawry’s Seasoning Salt on each side before I drop them on the grill.
