I’ve been a fan of steak butters since I first started grilling. Something about the butter and spices seems to enhance any cut of steak, from the fanciest cuts to the most budget-minded sirloins and rounds. Easy to make and very fridge-friendly, this particular steak butter has all the zest of the great American southwest.
6 Tbs. butter, slightly softened
1 clove garlic, minced (how to)
1/4 tsp. cumin
1/4 tsp. dried oregano leaves
1/4 tsp. chili powder
1/4 tsp. dried thyme leaves
1/8 tsp. ground black pepper
dash of cayenne (ground red pepper)
In a small bowl, combine all ingredients; blend well. Place on a piece of plastic wrap. Shape into a 4-inch log. Refrigerate at least 1 hour or until firm.
