Slow Cooker Time: 3 to 4 hours
A perfect recipe for game night whether your playing or watching. Simply drop the ingredients in the crock pot and walk away. With the brat buns filled with yumminess you serve the extra potatoes and kraut on the side.
1 pkg. (16 oz.) sauerkraut, rinsed and drained
2 med. Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
1 med. onion, finely chopped
2 Tbs. light brown sugar, tightly packed
1 Tbs. caraway seeds
1/2 cup yellow mustard
8 hotdog/bratwurst buns
1. Place brats in the slow cooker and top with sauerkraut, apples and onion. Sprinkle with brown sugar and caraway seeds. Cover and cook on LOW for 3 to 4 hours.
2. Spread about 1 tablespoon of mustard on each brat bun. Spoon some sauerkraut mixture on buns, and top each with a brat. Serve with extra potatoes and kraut on the side.
It would be near sacrilege not to enjoy these wonderful brats without a cold beer!
